In July 1887, Lake County was formed from parts of Orange and Sumter counties. Living up to its name, there are more than 1,000 lakes located within Lake County’s 1,200-square-mile border.
Located just north of Orlando, today Lake County is home to more than 230,000 Floridians. Its central location, friendly people and—as in all of the Fifth District—its warm weather, make Lake County a great place to live, work and play.
When visiting Lake County, be sure to visit Citrus Tower, the Mount Dora Museum of Speed and the National Presidents’ Hall of Fame. And don’t miss the more than 1,000 identified archeological sites in Lake County, as recognized by the State of Florida.
